Cooper Standard Opens New Japan Headquarters and Engineering Center

NOVI, Mich., Sept. 4, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Cooper Standard (NYSE: CPS) today announced the opening of its new Japan headquarters and engineering center in Yokohama. Relocated from its previous location in Osaki, the approximately 5,400-square-foot (502.5-square-meters) facility currently employs 14 people and offers full-service product development and engineering to support Japanese automakers.

"The opening of our new Yokohama facility expands Cooper Standard's network of global technology centers with broader capabilities to support our customers in this important automotive market," said Jeffrey Edwards, CEO and chairman, Cooper Standard. "Notably, the facility will enhance on-site product development, as well as accelerate the localization of our latest innovations, such as our award-winning Fortrex™ material."

Located at 1-1-2, Takashima, Nishi-ku, Yokohama-shi, Kanagawa 220-0011, the facility is equipped to serve Japanese automakers, such as Honda, Mazda, Nissan, Suzuki and Toyota, and offers room for additional staff and equipment. The facility is equipped with the latest design and testing capabilities, including CAD and 2D CAE designers, 3D printing and material testing equipment for Cooper Standard's core product lines.

To serve its growing Asia Pacific customer base, Cooper Standard and its joint venture partners operate 35 facilities in the Asia Pacific region, including 15 in China, 11 in India, six in Korea, two in Japan and one in Thailand.
